2023 Pastors Backpacking Trip
Hi! My name is Greg Chenoweth. I would like to invite you to join me on a backpacking trip to the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness in Colorado. I am looking for a small group of pastors who want to experience the Awe! of the Lord’s majesty and the Ahhh of His refreshing presence with other brothers in ministry.
As an EFCA pastor, I have experienced the complexities of the pastorate – the good, the difficult and the interesting. I have found that there is nothing like solitary fellowship in a beautiful place to refresh and reinvigorate me for returning to face the realities of life and ministry.
For the last 13 years I have been taking small groups of friends on backpacking trips to Colorado.
We have enjoyed some awesome places. And we have collected a host of adventurous memories.
During the summer of 2021, I enjoyed taking a group of pastors to the Flat Top Wilderness
to enjoy the Lord’s beauty and to be encouraged by one another’s stories.
This summer, I would like to take you to the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness which is about 3 hours southwest of Denver or an 1/2 hour south of Leadville or just west of Buena Vista.
The Collegiate Peaks represents classic Colorado Rocky Mountains
with several rugged and majestic 12,000-14,000′ mountains.
You do not have to be in great shape to go – you can hike and fish as much or as little as you like. You do not have to have the backpacking or camping gear. Between my friends and me, we can outfit a platoon.
When: July 24-30
How much: Around $500 which includes:
5 days of food
one night lodging in motel
and five nights camping
llama rental – for bearing our burdens
